My (mini) Vienna to-do List

Vienna, like most capital cities, has a pretty impressive list of well sought after locations that go beyond "conventionalism" and veer towards "awe-inspiring". Considering that Austria by-itself is located between 7 different countries, it's without further explanation that Vienna would have a fairly offbeat set-up. Vienna is in the North-Eastern area of the state, making the surrounding countries such as Slovakia, Czech, and Hungary, easily reachable by car or train (maybe even an intense trek if you're up for that kind of challenge). Renown artists like Mozart and Beethoven helped mold this one-of-a-kind city into what it has become in the art world. In a city with over 1.7 million inhabitants, Vienna continues to grow and develop with new innovations that meet the likes of people from all over the world.

1. The Hofburg Palace

Situated dead-set in the center of Vienna, this 13th century imperial palace was originally build for the Habsburg Dynasty and is currently home to the President of Austria. It's Baroque-designed exterior makes it a site to be seen. Within the walls of the Hofburg, you can visit the Spanish Riding School and gather some useful knowledge of this grand city.

2. The Kunst Haus Wien Museum

Designed by the artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, a Museum that exhibits an Alice in Wonderland meets modern Art mixed theme that will leave you in dazed. Once you enter this Museum you are captured by its majestic beauty, a hint of art touches each corner of this place, even the colorful cafes where you can grab a coffee or a bite to eat.

3. St. Stephen's Cathedral

136 meters tall at its highest point, this Roman Catholic Cathedral is an eye-saw. Accessible from every metro station, this Cathedral has an architectural design that makes it a truly unique 'monument'. Especially due to the panoramic view you can view from above.

4. RollerCoaster Restaurant

For an out of this world dining experience with friends or family, I couldn't recommend this place more. With a neon-lit environment and tech savvy serving skills (menu's are provided through an I-pad)...this restaurant gives you a glimpse into the future. Food options vary but primarily consist of burgers and fries to captivate a more fun and youthful setting.

5. Belvedere

Located in Baroque Park and home to the Baroque museum, the garden on the Belvedere premises turns you into a temporary fairytale princess/prince. A property worth a thousand words, even if you decide to not enter this monstrosity, you are in for an unimaginable surprise.

6. Vienna Rathausplatz and Ice Dream

Rathausplatz is one of the more populated streets that accommodates to all visitors and residents...providing us with spectacular events, the City Hall, amusement rides, and a very special Winter recreational Ice Rink! Every year this area hosts the Ice Dream which is an Ice Rink open to the public.

Hope you enjoyed! Tune in for my next post coming soon.
